  • Yeah, you might want to take down any other Buffy or Angel or anything else that has ever been on Fox because they'll delete your whole account if they have to remove too many. That's what happened to me and I lost some personal stuff I had on there as well. They've also canceled all Buffy Musical showings and the Firefly showings as well I think.
  • aww! The ones of mine that suddenly 'disappeared' on imeem were all Angel. :(
  • See, this is exactly what I was afraid of when FanLib started, and YouTube began attracting all those plagiarists that posted other peoples' Buffy vids. Prior to the advent of those, and other, "let's get mainstream people involved in fandom" sites, we all flew under the radar. Now that copyright holders are being hit over the head with it, I'm afraid there will be a lot more purges. *sigh*
  • Ugh! What bee crawled up their crotches?
    • My friend got her Mr. Brightside vid deleted a few weeks ago, but I thought it was isolated. I guess not. They are definitely going after the Buffy fans. After that shitty comic, nobody is going to care anymore.
  • Youtube has been deleting fandom accounts all over the place. Small clips from tv promos, fanvids, everything.

I still wonder why they refuse to have this kind of online publicity, after all the show has been over for years and who is going to buy the dvds if no publicity is given.
    • ITA, I don't see anything but good coming out of that. A vid promotes the show, and if it's not seen anywhere else, looks like it's almost like a free commercial.

      Oh well..
  • Not just Buffy videos, my friend today said that her whole account got wiped because of Smallville music videos she posted (ripped from her own DVDs). It wasn't like it was whole episodes, or even clips, just music videos

People are saying to not put Smallville in keywords any more, because google is targetting people for that
  • Bastards!
  • God these companies are stupid. It's basically free publicity for them! Now if you were ripping whole episodes, that would be another story, but for music vids?
  • This is very disheartening. If it weren't for all the fandom stuff online, I would have never gone out and bought all 7 seasons of Buffy and all 5 seasons of Angel.

I saw one episode of Buffy on FX (Something Blue) and I was hooked. I don't have cable, but I saw it at my mom's house. I went home and googled "Buffy" and "Spike" and found the videos and fan sites. I spent a day watching clips of the show on YouTube and went to my local Best Buy and bought them all at once. At full price.

Stupid network. They are cutting off their own head.
  • These idiots are killing their free advertizement.

I wonder how they target the vids for deletion. Maybe they check "Buffy" and "Smallville" but don't pay attention to "Spuffy" and "Clex"? If that's the case, tagging will become the exercise in subtlety. :)
  • That's really annoying! I love having your vids on there. Such easy access
  • That sucks!
  • Ooh that makes me mad!

They should be paying you for the work you have done instead of making it hard for people to find them. Other commenters have pointed out how worthwhile the fanvids are as a promotion. Not only for Fox but also for the artists whose songs you feature - I've doubled my contemporary music collection over the last 12 monts as a direct result of downloading and enjoying fan vids - which make a lot more sense to me than the pretentious rubbish on music video broadcasts and the pretentious nonsense that pays for it in the form of inane, repetitive and irrelevant advertising. Bloody corporate bloody lawyers! (No offence if you are one....this isn't personal)
    • Re: Ooh that makes me mad!

that's exactly the way I see it, too. Without the show on the air, they are killing the Buffy fandom, by taking the fans out of it.
